“International Real Estate Investment 2020 perspective and 2021 vision” was discussed during the webinar on January 16, 2021 held within the scope of GIGDER #EstateTalks series.
Mithat Yenigün, President of Turkish Contractors Association (TMB) and Nazmi Durbakayım, President of Istanbul Builders Association (INDER), attended the webinar, moderated by Ömer Faruk Akbal, President of GIGDER. Akbal noted that Turkey has a great potential in terms of close geographies due to its proximity to Iran, Central Asia, the Gulf and Europe while indicating that the new era in which remote work began in the pandemic closely affected investment preferences in the real estate sector.
Expressing that new designs have been brought up depending on the process of working from home with the pandemic, Durbakayım said: “We started to design 3+1 and 1+1 apartments on the same floor in floor plans. Now open space balconies are back on the agenda. The design of projects that are easy to reach and have sufficient technical equipment will come to the fore in the new era.” Stating that the Turkish contracting sector has become a brand all over the world, Yenigün said: “We do business with 127 countries. We have made an agreement with the Contractors Association of Japan and South Korea. We are in contact with sub-Saharan African countries. We have received requests from Indonesia for a new capital project to replace the capital Jakarta. There is also an expectation of investment from Nagorno-Karabakh. Libya and Iraq are also among our potential markets.”
